New Release (After 4 years)

We’ve now released WORM MP3 Encoder v1.3.2 R2

R2 includes a new specially optimized engine. The new engine (based on LAME 3.97b3) includes many sound quality improvements and speed optimizations. The new release pushes WLAME into the cutting edge of MP3.

Although LAME is pretty inactive these days, development does still continue. This means that while development of WLAME no-longer continues, the engine continues to be updated. WLAME provides a GUI for LAME with some pre-processing sound enhancements to create a higher quality output.

The new release is to bring back WLAME into a more accessible place. WLAME has been very inactive for over 4 years, finally we have R2 a stable release which will be always accessible.

Maybe R2 is a couple of years late, with the onset of iTunes and AAC. It should be noted however, that WLAME and LAME both compete with Apples AAC very well. Quality is matched. Yet MP3 is more compatible with many more devices.

NEWS:

WORM MP3 Encoder is no-longer maintained. However as of V1.3.2 the project is considered feature complete. Wlame 1.3.2 has been in wide circulation for over 4 years, and has proven to be stable, and no new bugs have been reported.

1.3.2 Bug-fixed many issues at the time, and the Changelog only shows the few important changes.

Currently I am generating a replaced Source Edition, which will be a cut down version of WLAME, i.e. no sound enhancements.

If I ever find the time to complete this, to make an exact replica of WLAME (bar the Sound Enhancement Scheme) then Source will be released to those who request it via email.
